The NCAA has a three- division system of Division I, Division II, and Division III. Under NCAA rules, Division I and Division II schools can extend scholarships to athletes for playing a sport. Division III schools may not extend any athletic scholarships but have abilities to exend academic scholarships to help student-athletes in attending the school.
