Jalen Simmons is the founder of JMixtape Productions, a film production brand focused on telling honest, impact-driven stories. What began as a way to help overlooked athletes gain exposure has evolved into a broader focus on meaningful storytelling across sports, events, and brands.
Jalen’s passion for video production started by documenting his younger brother Kobi Simmons’ journey to professional basketball, at a time when visibility and access weren’t guaranteed. That experience shaped his approach to filmmaking — intentional, personal, and rooted in real moments.
A former collegiate basketball player at Berea College (KY), Jalen earned a Bachelor of Science in Technology and Applied Design in 2016. Today, he works closely with clients to create cinematic films that feel natural, authentic, and purpose-driven.
JMixtape Productions exists to serve people and organizations who care about story, connection, and impact.

The witty and relaxed tone will make the learning process enjoyable for beginners of all ages, emphasizing that sports videography is as much about being knowledgeable , passionate and creative as it is about technical skills. As you go through your journey allow me to be a helping hand so you can be fearless in your artistic ways. We constantly doubt ourselves or get extremely frustrated when starting something new for the most part and I completely understand. If you are someone who is confident at starting something that is great. I can be confident when starting golf but if I never train or obtain knowledge of the game I will be swinging at each hole for a minute! (All Day!) This book is to help you as you take a swing into videography.
